The Computer Science department was established as one of the foundation departments of the Faculty of Science in 2013. At present, the department runs only undergraduate programme. But it also provides services to other departments in the Faculty of Science and Education.
The Department offers a four-year Degree programme B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Science for those entering at 100 level and also a three year degree programme for Direct Entry candidates. The programme has been designed with Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards for Undergraduate Programmes in Nigerian Universities, Science (BMAS). The programme recognised the need to produce competent personnel to man the industrial sector of the economy, thus a 6 Months Industrial/Practical Training (IT) in the industries/Companies and parastatals within and outside the catchment area of the institution is introduced.
The BSc, (Hons) Computer Science programme is designed to produce graduates with a sound knowledge of Software development, computer communication networks and data management etc. At the end of the four-year programme, graduates can pursue careers in teaching and research, software development, computer networking, database administration and many more.
Aim and Objectives
The purpose of the bachelors honours degree programme in Computer Science should include:

Candidates offered provisional admission into 100 level courses or the first year of the four year degree course must have S.S.C.E or GCE O’ level or equivalent with passes at credit level in at least five subjects obtained at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics to form the core subjects with credit in one other relevant science subject at the Senior Secondary School Certificate. The UTME subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two subjects from Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Economics and Computer Studies.
Candidate that passes one or more of the following qualifications may be offered admission by direct entry (i.e., second year of the four year courses);
