Ag. VC SSU, Prof. Yerima Receives Award of Excellence

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Prof. Mohammed Bello Yerima , FMSN, FBSN, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Kebbi Youths for Equity and Good Governance. The presentation took place on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the Senate Chamber of the University.

While presenting the Award on behalf of the Association, the Organizing Secretary, Comrade Ibrahim Muhammad, stated that the award commemorates the 33rd anniversary of Kebbi as a state. He commended Prof. Yerima for his exceptional dedication to fostering a cordial relationship between Kebbi and Sokoto states, as well as his contributions to education, youth advancement, and biotechnology in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Yerima expressed his commitment to serving humanity and acknowledged the University’s efforts towards academic excellence and infrastructural development. He added that preparations are going on towards the success of the forthcoming National Universities Commission’s October/November accreditation exercise.

Prof. Yerima seized the opportunity to express the institution’s warm appreciation to the Sokoto State Governor and Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, Ph.D., FCNA, ACIT, for his significant support and contribution towards the growth and development of the University. He particularly commended the Governor’s prompt payment of salaries and allowances to sabbatical and visiting lecturers, a gesture that has greatly benefited the University, the Vice-Chancellor, pointed out.

The Ag. Vice-Chancellor further appreciated Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s intervention in repairing some of the University’s structures damaged by severe windstorm, which according to him, is going on steadily. He, therefore, acknowledged the effort of the Visitor in addressing this critical issue, ensuring that the University would continue to strive for academic excellence.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Attahiru Ahmad Sifawa , delivered a vote of thanks on behalf of the University, and expressed gratitude to the Association for recognizing Prof. Yerima’s achievements.

The event was attended by the Bursar, Alh. Muhammad Sahabi Tambuwal; University Librarian, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad Maidamma Furfuri; Ag. Director Physical Planning and Maintenance, Arch. Abubakar Abdullahi; Deans; and Directors.
