The Development Office was established in Sokoto State University, Sokoto in the year 2014 as a positive initiative to enhance University Outreach, and to accord the needed attention to the external sourcing of support for collaborative research and the technological development of SSU in keeping with the University’s Strategic Plan. The Office also was intended to help Co-ordinate other external contacts and collaborative functions of SSU Staff and Students, inclusive of Exchange Programmes, Travel Fellowships, Visits, Scholarship Awards and Grants etc.
The Office functions as Unit under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor and is headed by senior an Academic staff, who serves as the Director. The Office also relates closely with Deans, Directors and Heads of the various University Schools, Institutes and Departments in SSU and also enjoys the backing and support of the University Management and the Governing Council.

The Office is very young and has started to contract viable Linkages and Collaborative Agreements with Institutions locally and overseas. Several Linkage arrangements are currently being pursued and worked out with Overseas Institutions and Agencies. Likewise the Sokoto State University is currently considering and processing Applications for Affiliation and possible collaboration with scores of Nigerian Institutions and Agencies. The Office has also dispersed/ circulated several scholarships opportunities for Staff and Students to get higher studies around the world as well as contributed and added value in preparing important documents/ reports/ forms etc.
